    Welcome

The Indian tribes along the Gulf Coast are major contributors to the region’s economy. From Louisiana to Florida, Indian gaming alone generates over $6 billion per year and is responsible for tens of thousands of jobs. Tribes along the Gulf Coast are also engaged in numerous other industries such as agriculture, e-commerce, and construction. Tribal economies are constantly evolving and always seeking new business opportunities. The Gulf States American Indian Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter, “Chamber”) was founded to provide additional opportunities for tribes, tribal citizens, and non-Indian businesses seeking to do business with tribes.

The Chamber has three primary purposes: promote American Indian owned businesses in the Gulf States, promote commercial enterprises owned by tribes in the Gulf States, and foster relationships between non-Indian businesses and American Indian businesses. Towards these ends, the Chamber will host classes on business development and networking events. The Chamber will also focus on educating business leaders and government officials about tribal sovereignty and the opportunities that tribal sovereignty creates for economic growth. The vast majority of people employed by the tribes are non-Indians. When tribal economies, everyone benefits.

Tribes in the Gulf States, like the tribes throughout the United States, engaged in commerce with one another long before European arrival. When Europeans arrived, the tribes readily incorporated them into their preexisting trade networks. The Chamber hopes to keep the Indian economic tradition going by creating more business relationships between Indian and non-Indian businesses.

    Sincerely,
